Hello everyone. This is Tim Gabriel, the founder and worker bee behind the charity. This is my first blog entry (I'm an old dog being taught new tricks!). Since the idea of the charity started germinating in 2009, we've been in the media a few times. I thought I'd dedicate this first blog to providing these links that, at a high level, explain how we've evolved.
The first exhibits we did was at Raleigh First Night, 2012 and 2013. We had eight displays in one museum and the crowd loved it.
We were featured in Durham Magazine in late 2015.
Lastly, I had a great time (and my 2 minutes of fame!) when the charity was featured on the "TarHeel Traveler" TV segment in late 2016.
Currently in 2022, we've grown to serving 13 locations, at no charge. We are "the richest people in town" based on the number of smiles we generate for kids fascinated by our unique displays. Call me if you want to learn more and possibly get involved. We are not Picassos or Einsteins; just unpaid volunteers who love having a big impact on children (of all ages) across the Triangle. And we'd love to expand to the Triad (if you happen to know a hospital administrator or a librarian out that ways).
That's it for now. Thanks for visiting our blog.
